Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what data the Animora app and website collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you control it. By using Animora you agree to what is described here.

01Who we are

Animora is an Arabic anime app and community for iPhone and Android, operated by the FarajAI team. We are responsible for the data described in this policy.

For any privacy question or request about your data, email us at hello@farajai.com.

02Data we collect

Data you give us:

  • Account data: email, username and password (stored hashed with Argon2, so we cannot read it). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your account identifier and email from them, never your password.
  • Optional profile data: display name, bio, country, gender and pronouns (which you can hide), profile picture and banner.
  • What you post: posts, comments, reviews, ratings, lists, reactions and the images you upload.
  • Your library and activity: the anime you add, your watch status, the episodes you watched and where you stopped, and your favorites.
  • Reports and support tickets you send us.
  • Early-access sign-up on the website: email, the device you want, language and the campaign source, if any.

Data we collect automatically:

  • Session data: the device and browser type (User-Agent) of each sign-in, so you can see your devices and sign out of them.
  • Your push token and platform, to send the notifications you turned on.
  • Last seen and active days, to calculate streaks and stats and to show your status if you allow it.
  • Anti-abuse signals at sign-up: we keep your IP address and install id only as one-way hashes that cannot be turned back into the original values, together with your email domain, to detect fake accounts.

We do not ask for your date of birth, your precise location, or access to your contacts.

03How we use your data

  • To run your account and keep your library and progress in sync across your devices.
  • To power the community: your posts, comments and reviews are shown to others according to your privacy settings.
  • To send the notifications you turned on, such as new episodes and replies.
  • For safety and moderation: preventing abuse and spam, reviewing reports and enforcing the Terms of Use.
  • To improve the app using aggregate statistics that do not identify you.
  • To show the ads that keep Animora free (see the Ads section).
  • To contact you about your account, or about the launch if you joined early access.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

04What others can see

Your username, display name and profile picture are always public. Your library, activity, follow lists, online status and last seen are controlled from the privacy settings in the app, and you can make your profile private.

Whatever you post in public places (posts, comments, reviews) is visible to the community, so be mindful of what you share. You can block or mute any user, or mute specific words.

05Ads

Animora is free and supported by Google AdMob ads. Google may collect your device advertising identifier and technical data to serve and measure ads, under Google’s privacy policy.

If you are in a region that requires consent (such as the EU and the UK), we ask for your consent to personalized ads before showing them, and you can change your choice later. On iPhone the app asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency); if you decline, you see non-personalized ads.

You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.

06Who we share data with

We share data only with providers that help us run the service, and only as much as they need:

  • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications, and the Apple Push Notification service on iPhone.
  • Google and Apple for sign-in, if you choose it.
  • Google AdMob for ads.
  • Hosting, storage and content-delivery providers that hold our database and images.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect the safety of users, or if ownership of the service changes, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.

Your data may be processed on servers outside your country, and we require our providers to protect it at least as well as described here.

07How long we keep data

  • Account data and content: for as long as your account exists.
  • Notifications: 90 days.
  • Anti-abuse sign-up signals: 90 days.
  • Active-day history: about 400 days.
  • Data export files: deleted automatically once the download link expires.
  • When an account is banned for a violation, we keep a one-way hash of its email for one year to prevent re-registration.

08Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time (Settings → Account), after confirming your password or signing in again with Google or Apple.

After you ask, the account enters a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel by signing in. When it ends we permanently delete your account, profile, library, activity, images and content, and revoke the Apple link if there is one.

Reports, support tickets and moderation records are kept for safety reasons, but they are detached from your account and no longer point to you.

To leave the early-access list, email us at hello@farajai.com.

09Your rights

  • Access and portability: request a full copy of your data from the app in a readable format (once a day).
  • Correction: edit your profile data from settings at any time.
  • Deletion: as described under Deleting your account.
  • Objection and withdrawing consent: for personalized ads and notifications, from the app and device settings.

If the law where you live gives you additional rights, email us to exercise them and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the data protection authority in your country.

10How we protect data

We encrypt the connection between the app and our servers, store passwords and session tokens as one-way hashes, keep your sign-in token in your device’s secure storage, limit our team’s access to data to what each role needs, and log moderation actions.

No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password you do not use elsewhere, and tell us right away if you notice unusual activity on your account.

11Children

Animora is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and if we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13 we delete it. If you are a parent and believe your child has signed up, email us at hello@farajai.com.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will change the last-updated date at the top of the page, and if a change is significant we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
